Core range 10y/o from Edradour 'the smallest distillery' in Scotland. This distillery was called 'the little gem' and 'the last stronghold of handmade whisky' privately owned distillery surviving amongst the big corporate beasts such as Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Edrington etc. However, there are now dozens of smaller modern craft distilleries in Scotland - Strathearn, Isle of Harris, Wolfburn, Dornoch, Kingsbarns. Edradour under Andrew Symington who also founded Signatory Vintage has focused on using the best sherry casks for the past 2 decades and that is really beginning to show as they are producing some of the best whisky in Scotland in the past couple of years. The core range at 40% is the entry level reference point, but for truly spectacular whiskies it is worthwhile seeking out the older age statement single cask releases.
