This is a Micro Provenance Cask exploration series bottled exclusively for New Zealand. The cask is French Oak from the Allier Forest which was previously a virgin oak cask used to mature Bruichladdich and was filled again to create this whisky. You can't really call it a refill virgin oak cask as that sounds strange. Bourbon exclusively uses virgin oak and a first fill Bourbon barrels have previously been used to mature Bourbon. Its kind of confusing now more Scotch distilleries are using Virgin Oak casks too as when they are refilled they are called second fill as the number of fills only refers to single malt.
