Final part of the peaty No Name Trilogy of blends. With the first Compass box No Name Ardbeg took centre stage, with the final No Name 3 it is Laphroaig comprising nearly 75% of the blend which adds seaweed, medicinal and tropical fruit notes. Compass Box are making some legendary modern blends and pushing boundaries as they do it.

15 y.o. Laphroaig matured in a recharred hogshead (74.7%)
18 y.o. Bowmore matured in a refill bourbon barrel (11.3%)
18 y.o. Mortlach matured in a recharred barrel (7.5%)
17 y.o. Clynelish matured in a refill sherry butt (6.0%), and
13 y.o. Highland Malt Blend matured in a high toast, custom French oak cask (0.5%)

Bonfire with Mermaids

Some lovely ocean spray and subtle smoke on the nose. More of the ocean than the fire on the nose at least. Sweet upfront and then a little prickly, but beautifully done. Apricot jam which reveals freshly cracked black pepper, that smoothens into cured meats and honey. This dram gives a charcuterie board alongside a cigar. A taster is well worthwhile as this has certainly moved me towards buying a bottle.
