Ledaig 29y/o 1995 Westie Sponge No. 4 52%ABV 15ml/30ml

Great old sherried Ledaig from the Whisky Sponge. Some people are super excited about this whisky giving it super high ratings. This is a complex whisky with a lot going on, but I feel its slightly let down by a little sourness on the palate and astringency on the finish. Its an awesome whisky but I feel if it was just bottled maybe one summer earlier it could have been an all time great. However, I'm very sensitive to mouthfeel, texture and dryness so any excess tannins makes things taste a little astringent and mouth-drying - if you are less sensitive to these tannic notes in older whisky and love a bit of smoke then this could be your best whisky this year - the nose scores super high for me in particular and that alone makes it worth trying..
