Ondjaba Signature Edition No.1 Namibian Whiskey 54.5%ABV 30ml

This is an interesting whisky from Africa - this whisky was made at the Erongo Mountain Winery in Namibia - uses native Mahangu (pearl millet) in the mash, Elephant dung is used as a fuel source to dry and smoke the malted grain, and casks (albeit French Oak) which were used previously to mature the wineries red wine and award winning Jewel of Namibia brandy. 

"For this special edition we used Mahangu, Barley, Wheat and Maize, all smoked over our unique “African Peat”- Elephant Dung. After ageing under the Namibian Sun, we chose only the very best casks and this limited release is the result:  flamboyant  flavours with subtle aromas of dried Apricots followed by an alluring smokiness that gently lingers.

• Nosing: The whisky has notes of biscuit and maple on the nose. It also smells of dried apricots. Bacon and gravy round off the aroma.
• Tasting: The Ondjaba Signature Edition No.1 has notes of nutmeg and cloves on the tongue. It tastes of brandy and pudding. Dried fruits lead to leathery tones and oak.
• Finish: The finish is medium-long. The African whisky leaves with lingering spices and a subtle smoky note.
