A sweet, rich, and spiced nose; crème brûlée and anise spiced raspberry jam. The spice builds on the palate, but there’s plenty of dark chocolate and raspberry reduction throughout. The chocolate and fruits come back on the finish.
Quite rich and typical for Distillery 148. It does stand above for some of the single cask offerings and special releases from it as well. However, for this price, you can get some more complex drams that are also Australian. Considering how hyped this release was, it’s worth the price for a sample.
