Westernport Limited Release Bourbon Cask 48%ABV 30ml

This is the first special release from Westernport. David and Scott the owners of Westernport Distillery love big bold Aussie whiskies in fortified wine casks - Muscat, Port and Sherry. I heard a story that some of their mates are not big whisky fans and they asked them to make something that they could use in a mixer with coke or something lighter, sweeter and more approachable. So they filled a small bourbon barrel for these mates. Fast forward 5 or 6 years and they pulled this out at a tasting and its a fruity sweet honey bomb - universally everyone raves about it and its voted favourite of the night. So they put tons of effort into sourcing and recoopering the finest fortified wine casks and put very little effort into making a mixer for their mates and somehow create a great whisky. They better get busy filling some more small bourbon barrels as their spirit works really well in Bourbon casks.

Single barrel. 52 bottles total.

This light to medium bodied whisky has been aged in a single ex-bourbon first filled cask for over 5 years and has taken on some amazing flavours.  It has only just seen the light of day, so it was bottled quick smart.

Expect caramel and vanilla tones, with a hint of stewed raisins and bananas with a touch of our Australian sun kissed malted grains.

Bright sweet aromas like honey, vanilla and golden syrup

Sharp and bright with sweet bourbon cask notes and some oak and golden syrup
