Arran Sauternes Cask 50%ABV - 30ml / 50ml

Tasty 8 year old Arran finished in Sauternes casks from Bordeaux. Nicely balanced sweetness and malt. Bit hot at 50% - leave for a minute in the glass or add a drop of water - this is a great value malt from the Isle of Arran. Arran and Kilchoman were the first wave of new distilleries just over 20 years ago and they really are showing the old boys how it should be done and pioneered a path for the growing number of new distilleries opening in recent years.

Notes from Arran... Nose: Honey sweetness and citrus. Palate: Richly honeyed and backed with a lifting zestiness which slides into spice and zingy salt. Once the dram opens out, vanilla and sultana stand out followed by notes of toasted oak. Finish: Sweetness, Honey, Apricots, Melon, Honeysuckle.
